2013 Cheese Tour Day 2

The road to Trout Lake is a beautiful drive up the Columbia River Gorge, past Multnomah Falls. We climbed to approximately 2000 ft elevation and saw snow in the fields along the way. The lesson we learned is to always hear a verbal yes, that they are expecting us. Unfortunately, the cheesemaker thought we were coming last Sunday…and they were at the Oregon coast showing their cheese at a Seafood and Wine Festival this weekend.  Although we drove 4 hours  without meeting the cheesemaker, we had a beautiful day, threw snowballs, enjoyed homemade beef stew in the corner café and bought a wedge of Cascadia Creamery Caerphilly at the local corner store. And it was delicious! Looking  forward to trying their other cheeses. We hear they have a killer blue.
